Word on the Street - Politics and Poetry
Created by twenty-one artists and writers in collaboration with seamstresses living as refugees in the United States, Word on the Street speaks directly to the urgent, timeless concerns of the individual, the community, and the requirements of citizenry.
Made collaboratively the Word on the Street felt banners brings female-identifying visual artists and writers into creative dialogue with seamstresses working with the Center for Refugee Services in San Antonio, Texas. This partnership merges art and activism in order to recognize, record, and honor the voices of all women.
